WORKERS at a city farm have been devastated by a savage attack on their
animals.
At least 40 birds and a sheep died after vandals cut a hole in the fence
around the farm at Maryon Wilson Park, Charlton, and let a dog in.
Park manager Jim Somerton said: "It's devastation. It looks like someone cut
the fence to the sheep pen and let a large dog in.
"One sheep has been really badly mauled and is with a vet and another dropped
dead from the shock.
"And then some foxes got in through the gap and killed around 40 birds. We've
lost ducks, pheasants and chicks.
"We're still finding carcasses up in the woods where the foxes left them. It
could take months to restock the farm."
The vandals struck during the night on Wednesday last week.
