AR-News: (AU/US) TV station backs Irwin

US television channel Animal Planet is backing its besieged star Steve
"Crocodile Hunter" Irwin in the wake of claims he endangered animals in
Antarctica.

Animal Planet executives today described Irwin as a "tireless and
fearless" defender of animal rights and rejected media reports Irwin had
endangered animals, including a humpback whale, while shooting a
documentary in Antarctica.

"The Australian press has reported that an investigation is underway by
the Australian Antarctic Division (AAD)," the channel's statement said.
