Please send a letter to your newspaper to let them know that Oxford
University is building a new monkey lab and that it is scientifically futile
to use monkeys as a method of biomedical research for human health.

Dear Editor,

Everyone has heard of the internationally renowned Oxford University. But
did you know that Oxford University is building a laboratory for monkey
experimentation?

Animal tests are scientifically flawed as a method of biomedical research
for human health because of the anatomical and physiological differences
between species. For example, Hormone Replacement Therapy, tested safely on
monkeys, caused heart disease, strokes and breast cancer in millions of
women.

Doctors groups, such as Doctors and Lawyers for Responsible Medicine (
http://www.dlrm.org ) and Europeans for Medical Advancement (
http://www.curedisease.com ), advocate only non-animal experiments. Such
genuine research includes invitro, epidemiology, computer and mathematical
modeling, clinical research, genetics and technology, autopsies and
post-marketing surveillance.

Oxford University should be a centre of excellence in science without
resorting to animal experimentation. The Neurosciences Research Institute at
UK's Aston University is a prime example of such foresight, with its new
'Academy of Life Sciences' ( http://www.aston.ac.uk/lhs/research/nri/ ).

The £8 million Academy will provide the opportunity for cross-disciplinary
work by the integration of clinically related research in neuroscience. It
will include research groups working on behavioural and cognitive sciences,
neuro-imaging, vision and ophthalmology.

Readers may wish to ask the Vice Chancellor of Oxford University to follow
in the steps of Aston University. His email address is:
vice-chancellor at admin.ox.ac.uk

Yours sincerely,

(Name, address, tel.no )

Dear Vice Chancellor, Oxford University gazette and Students Union
representatives,

Please allow me a moment to express my deep concerns about Oxford
University's construction of a new monkey laboratory.

The application requests permission for "demolition of existing buildings
and construction of research facilities" and for "provision of research
laboratories and specialist accommodation to support research groups in the
adjacent science Area".

Animal tests are scientifically flawed as a method of biomedical research
for human health because of the anatomical and physiological differences
between species. For example, Hormone Replacement Therapy, tested safely on
monkeys, caused heart disease, strokes and breast cancer in millions of
women.

neuro-imaging, vision and ophthalmology.

I would be grateful if you could reconsider constructing the monkey
laboratory and devote these resources into the construction of a centre of
excellence, such as the Academy of Life Sciences at Aston University.

Yours sincerely,

(Name and Country)

PLease leave your concerns about the lab with the company constructing the
laboratory, RMC.

Dear RMC,

I am deeply concerned about your construction a new monkey laboratory at
Oxford University.

For example, Hormone Replacement Therapy, tested safely on
monkeys, caused heart disease, strokes and breast cancer in millions of
women.

Doctors groups, such as Doctors and Lawyers for Responsible Medicine (
http://www.dlrm.org ) and Europeans for Medical Advancement (
http://www.curedisease.com ) advocate only non-animal experiments. Such
genuine research includes invitro, epidemiology, computer and mathematical
modeling, clinical research, genetics and technology, autopsies and
post-marketing surveillance.

The UK, and indeed Oxford University, could be a centre of excellence in
science without resorting to animal use. The Neurosciences Research
Institute at Aston University is a prime example of such foresight, with its
new 'Academy of Life Sciences' ( http://www.aston.ac.uk/lhs/research/nri/ )

The £8 million Academy will provide the opportunity for cross-disciplinary
work by the integration of clinically related research in neuroscience. It
will include research groups working on behavioural and cognitive sciences,
neuro-imaging, vision and ophthalmology.

In view of the fact that the construction of the lab would result in human
suffering (through invalid science), I would be grateful if you reconsider
your involvement with Oxford University and cancel your contract.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read this letter.

Yours sincerely,

Animal experiments have:
a 63% failure rate when detecting human carcinogens
a 75-95% failure rate for detecting drug side effects
a 70% failure rate for detecting drugs which cause birth defects
Success rates lower than those achieved by uneducated guesswork.

This is not science!!
