Watchdog Discusses the Practices of the American Veterinary Medical
Association with UPC President Karen Davis, Holly Cheever DVM, and Professor
Peter Singer

Monday, June 7, Watchdog, hosted by Karen Dawn, looked at the American
Veterinary Medical Association. KPFK listeners were shocked to learn some of
the practices the AVMA supports, and what animal friendly legislation it has
opposed. Guests:

Karen Davis, PhD – President of United Poultry Concerns, author of Prisoned
Chickens, Poisoned Eggs, who has been battling the AVMA on behalf of birds,
for years.

Holly Cheever, DVM – Spokesperson for campaigns by the Association of
Veterinarians for Animal Rights, aimed at pushing the AVMA to adopt
resolutions on animal welfare.

Professor Peter Singer – Author of Animal Liberation, and president of
Animal Rights International, which has been targeting the AVMA for animal
unfriendly policies.
