Features:

1. Electronic blockade of Newchurch collaborator announced.
2. Covance fails to shut down web sites showing undercover videos and
leaked documents.

1. Newchurch Guinea Pig Farm

The following is an English translation of an anonymous communique that
was received :

"International electronic blockade of Newchurch collaborators announced
for July 5th.

After the success of February's online protest against Marstons Brewery a
new, bigger and more ambitious event is being planned.

New computer software for simultaneously jamming both phone lines and
email accounts over the Internet will be made available to thousands of
activists all over the world on the 5th of July. This software will be set
up to hammer one or more of the companies that are propping up the Halls'
vile business. The identities of the targets will not be announced until
the day of the protest.

More details on how to take part and where to download the tool will be
emailed to activist groups nearer the time. Until then please advertise
this event widely as we need a lot of people to take part."

Disclaimer: The individual(s)/group(s) running this event have no
affiliation with the SNGP campaign or the webmaster of
huntingdonsucks.com. We are merely reporting this event so that people can
decide for themselves whether or not to take part.

2. Covance Laboratories

For five months an undercover investigator, Friedrich Mulln, worked inside
Covance's primate lab in Munster, Germany. The video footage that he
filmed showed horrific abuse of the monkeys there. In order to stop the
distribution of this video footage Covance obtained injunctions against Mr
Mulln and German AR groups. In January 2004 they also threatened a number
of Internet Service Providers with legal action for hosting web sites with
copies of the video footage. After this the video mostly disappeared from
the Internet.

In April anonymous activists put a new offshore web site online (Covance
Undercover, www.tierversuche-muenster.org) to publish the undercover
footage once more. Also on the site was a number of internal documents
leaked from Covance's Harrogate lab in the UK.

As expected, Covance immediately hired more lawyers and threatened
to sue the site's Hong Kong ISP in order to censor the site. After the
issue was discussed several times on an American radio show run by 2600
Magazine (www.2600.com) many people came forward offering to post copies
of Covance Undercover on their own web sites. The bad publicity and
increased anti-covance activism resulting from their legal bullying has
ensured that more people than ever are aware of Covance's abuse of
animals.

Currently the most comprehensive and up to date source for all the
undercover footage, leaked internal documents and news about legal action
is at

http://mlcastle.net/covance/

Just added to the site is an embarassing internal Covance memo, never
before publicly seen, in which Covance UK talks about how they should
prepare for an upcoming inspection to ensure that they are following Good
Laboratory Practice guidelines. In the memo, they detail plans for fixing
up some of the sloppy work that they'd been doing. This memo can be seen
at

http://mlcastle.net/covance/newstuff/glp-inspection.pdf

The web site states that they "expect to obtain, and will publish, more
similarly embarassing internal documents in the future."

Animal experiments have:
a 63% failure rate when detecting human carcinogens
a 75-95% failure rate for detecting drug side effects
a 70% failure rate for detecting drugs which cause birth defects
Success rates lower than those achieved by uneducated guesswork.

This is not science!!
