Monday, June 7, on Watchdog, we look at the American Veterinary Medical
Association. We think our KPFK listeners will be shocked to learn some of
the practices that organization supports, and what animal friendly
legislation it has opposed.

Guests:

Holly Cheever D.V.M -- Spokesperson for campaigns by the 'Association of
Veterinarians for Animal Rights' aimed at pushing the AVMA to adopt
resolutions on animal welfare.

Karen Davis -- President of United Poultry Concerns, who has been battling
the AVMA, on behalf of the birds, for years.

And we are delighted to welcome back

Professor Peter Singer -- Author of Animal Liberation. He is president of
Animal Rights International, which has been targeting the AVMA for animal
unfriendly policies.

You can find out more about our guests on the Watchdog web page, designed
and updated by Janee Taylor. You will find it at:

range you can listen live on line at 2pm US Pacific Time, 5pm Eastern:
http://www.KPFK.org

We will take callers and would love your participation. The call-in number
is: (818) 985-5735. That's (818) 985 KPFK

Listen if you can, and please send comments to Watchdog at KPFK.org . (I send a
huge thank you to those who already have.)

Watchdog's season has been extended. Positive feedback will make it more
likely that Pacifica will eventually put an animal issues series on the air
permanently.

Thanks to Ted Vegvari and PVNET (http://www.pvnet.com/ ) you can now listen
on line to archived shows you wanted to hear but missed. You'll find the
shows on the Watchdog web pages cited above.

The first fourteen shows of the series are up there now and today's show
should be available some tonight.
