June 1, 2004 -- Sparky, the tortured and starved Bronx dog found earlier this year tied to a piece of concrete, has found a new leash on life after a Bronx man saved the pooch from death's door. 
The gentle pit bull, described in January as a "walking skeleton" by his rescuers, was found in front of a moving-and-storage firm office, with inch-deep sores from standing on concrete for up to a year. 

Thomas Curley, 52, a sanitation worker who never owned a dog, saw Sparky's picture in The Post, and was moved by his suffering face. 

After he put his name on a list to adopt Sparky, a woman from the shelter called him and asked him to take the dog "because his time has come and he's on death row," he said.
