AR-News: (US) Maine groups square off over bear trapping ban

Maine's status as the nation's only state to allow bear trapping is under
attack by an unusual confederacy of hunters and animal-rights activists.

But it will be up to voters in November to decide whether to put new
limits on Maine's black bear hunt, a popular late summer and early fall
sport that draws 15,000 hunters a year - half of them from out of state.
