AR-News: Fw: Don't purchase gas May 19th

Americans already pay less for gas, often much less, than people in most
other countries, including in Europe, where cars the size Americans drive
are rarely seen.

High cost of gas may lead to reduction of its use, and a move toward smaller
vehicles that are more fuel-efficient, thus less harmful to the environment,
and the people and animals who depend on clean air and water to survive.
Let's hope, therefore, that gas prices double and triple in America.

Less fuel consumption would also reduce dependence on foreign energy
sources, thus perhaps reduce the "need" Americans feel to use weapons to
assure the maintenance of a life style that is draining the rest of the
world of its resources.

I urge all Americans and everyone else to counter the big car industry and
others who are not alarmed by the rising incidence of asthma and other
diseases associated with use of fossil fuels, and who are unmoved by the
plight of marine birds, mammals and other wildlife who suffer so cruelly
from oil leakages, not to mention spills (the majority unreported) inherent
to the transport of the fossil fuels we use with gluttonous abandon.

Gas prices for Americans are subsidized enough. It's time to pay real
costs, or better yet, seek alternatives.

Barry
