Demonstrators took to Oxford's streets on Saturday in protest at new
premises at Oxford University for housing animals destined for research.

More than 100 people marched from Broad Street in the city centre to the
new £18m facility at the university's South Parks Road science area.

The three-hour protest was peaceful and no arrests were made, police said.

It followed the stoppage of last month's march by officers because police
clearance had not been given.

Minimum public disruption

Animal rights groups fear the total volume of animal research at the
university will be stepped up with the opening of the new centre.
