New Delhi, May 11: The Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi Government
arrested two officials, a head constable and a constable, of the enforcement branch
of Delhi Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, on charges of demanding
and accepting Rs 1000 as bribe.
The two had allegedly asked cash from the complainant, Mahinder Kumar for not
challaning and impounding his vehicles bringing cattle in Delhi from the
adjoining states.Kumar, a resident of Nabi Karim, worked with a commission agent
at Idgah Road Mandi. He was approached by the accused at their shop on May.5.
The accused allegedly demanded Rs 2,000. They called the complainant to their
office along with the money. Kumar complained to the Anti-Corruption Branch
(ACB) on May 6.
The ACB laid a trap at the office of Delhi Society for Prevention of Cruelty
to Animals. Samay Singh and Nav Rang were arrested from the spot in front of
the witnesses and the marked currency notes were recovered from their
possession. A case has been registered against the two and further investigation is on.
