Clarence A. "Pete" Leggett, Jr., 78, of Boonsboro, Md. was harvested by God
this week. Leggett was co-owner of Leggett's Trapping
Supplies, a member of the Maryland Fur Trappers and Fur Takers of America,
a lifetime member of the National Trappers Assoc. In 1983, he received the
Maryland Fur Trappers Hall of Fame Award and in 2003 was inducted into the
National Trappers Hall of Fame.
Leggett's pelt was reportedly in "fair" condition and will be sold at
auction unless the family decides to have him mounted. A decision is
expected soon.
Leggett bred like a mink and is survived by his mate, four pups and a
gaggle of relatives.

Clarence A. "Pete" Leggett, Jr., 78, of Boonsboro, Md., passed away
peacefully at his home on Tuesday, May 4, 2004.
Born June 5, 1925 in Boonsboro, he was the son of the late Clarence A.
Leggett, Sr. and Sallie Swope Leggett.
He was an accomplished trapper and was co-owner of Leggett's Trapping
Supplies. He was a member of the Maryland Fur Trappers and Fur Takers of
America. He was a lifetime member of the National Trappers Assoc., the
Texas Trappers Assoc. and was also a former member of numerous other State
Trappers Associations. He also received, in 1983, the Maryland Fur Trappers
Hall of Fame Award and also in 2003 was inducted into the National Trappers
Hall of Fame.
He worked most of his life as a farmer. He was a member of both the
Mid-Atlantic Milk Assoc. for 43 years and the Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlotte M. Leggett, whom he
married November 4, 1944; four children, son, Ronald Leggett and wife
Betty; daughter Alethea Wyand and husband Eddie; son Craig Leggett and wife
Brenda; daughter, Juanese Sanders and husband, Hank. In addition to his
wife and children, he is also survived by seven grandchildren, Amy Leggett
Lescalleet, Sharon Delauney, Michael Jones, David Nunamker, Denton Leggett,
Spencer Leggett, Jessica Nunamaker; two great-grandchildren, Cody Delauney
and Savannah Lescalleet; one brother, Willis "Red Leggett Sr.; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Elvia Crum and Marguerite Gross;
and one brother, Charles Edward Leggett.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2004 at Bast Funeral
Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. Robert D. Welty will officiate. Burial will be
in Boonsboro Cemetery. The family will visit with family and friends at the
Boonsboro Bible Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the burial on
Friday.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m.
Thursday, May 6 at the funeral home.
