AR-News: New Amendment to Ban Horse Slaughter

Dear Friends,

The effort to ban the slaughter of horses for human consumption in Illinois 
continues in the Illinois Senate.  HB 649 was just amended [Senate Amendment 
#2] with wording to ban the slaughter of horses for human consumption.  Here is

We know that both Senators & Representatives in the Illinois General Assembly 
have been receiving calls urging them to support any legislation banning 
horse slaughter.  Now you need to call them again to let them know that HB 649, 
with Senate Amendment #2, is the Bill that they should support by voting "Yes" 
when it is called for a vote.  The Senate will be the first battleground, so 
call your Senator first to ask them to vote "Yes", AND then call your 
Representative to ask them to support this legislation [HB 649 with Senate Amendment #2] 
when it comes over to the House.

The General Assembly has only a few short weeks until they adjourn, so your 
calls are needed ASAP.  Those opposing the ban will likely mount an impressive 
phone campaign of their own, so to prevent horses from being cruelly & 
needlessly slaughtered, we MUST generate more calls than the opposition!

clicking on the name of your Senator and your Representative or in the results 
of your "find your legislator" search.

Also don't forget, it doesn´t matter if you are not an Illinois resident 
because, the horses that will be slaughtered at Cavel will come from all over the 
country.  Don´t forget to mention this to the legislators!

clear difference between humane euthanasia and cruel, bloody slaughter.
