Presents an Evening Program

INTRODUCTION TO ANIMAL LAW

What is Animal Law?  This survey program will discuss the treatment of
domestic, captive, and wild animals in state and federal law, addressing the
historical status of animals in the law; an overview of major laws
concerning the care, use, and protection of animals; and the movement to
obtain legal recognition of the rights of animals.  Statutes that will be
discussed include the Animal Welfare Act, Humane Slaughter Act, Endangered
Species Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act, Wild Horses and Burros Act, as
well as state laws and citizen initiatives.

Speakers:	Nancy Perry, Director of Government Affairs, Humane Society of the
United States
		Jonathan R. Lovvorn, Partner, Meyer and Glitzenstein
