World Day for Laboratory Animals- Tel Aviv, 23.4.2004

Some 150 people participated in the march of identification with laboratory animals from Rabin Square to the Cinemateque. The marchers carried banners, whistled whistlers and called slogans. They demonstrated an impressive attendance vis-a-vis a Tel Aviv routine Friday. People in Cafes, shops, driving in the busy streets, stopped for a moment bewildered at the march's power.
At the Cinemateque square, other people joined in and together watched a special presentation that showed the connection between consumption of specific cosmetic products and experiments on animals. MK Eithan Kabel, Orna Banai and Anat Refua- the society's spokesperson, spoke in front of the large audience around the society's stands. Considering the almost no publication of the event, and taking into account that this year, in contrast to previous years, there were no performances of artists ( out of economical consideration) there was a very good attendance of people.

The society wishes to thank all the friends who took part in the events of the World Day.

Bar-Ilan University- the cages await the monkeys.
During last week, all 1100 lecturers in the university received personal envelopes containing information about the cruel experiments due to take place in the new centre of brain research in Bar-Ilan.
In Yediot Achronot's supplement 7 days, in his regular column "Animal Planet", Gabi Nitzan criticises very severely experiments on animals in general and the due experiments in Bar-Ilan in particular.
