THE force feeding of geese to produce foie gras still earns a living for
several Hungarian families in the south-eastern part of Hungary.

Despite the media outrage over the inhumane process, goose liver continues
to be sought-after luxury product, making it to the festive tables in the
European Union. The EU has given a 15-year time-frame to France and
Hungary to develop an alternative method to fatten geese.
