A slew of new ads and other promotions using chimpanzees have come up recently. Please consider writing polite letters to the following companies asking them not to contribute to the exploitation of chimpanzees. Possible issues to raise with these companies include the often brutal training methods used by chimpanzee trainers, the fact that these individuals are taken from their mothers at infancy and rarely returned, and the fact that representing a critically endangered species as a cute little joke just isn't funny or responsible.
More details on chimpanzee “actors” and how they are treated and trained can be found at http://www.chimpcollaboratory.org/projects/pubed.asp
