Nobody Did Anything To Stop Cat Theft

On April 8, as I was sitting in my kitchen watching TV, two 12year-old girls took my 17-year-old cat from my front driveway and walked off with her.

Several neighbors saw them do it, told them to put the cat down, and then did nothing further as the girls walked off with a large piece of my heart.

The girls kept her overnight and upon hearing that people were looking for her, removed her collar and tags and let her loose in the woods.

The parents of the girl where they took the cat told them to return her, but again, did nothing when they were ignored.

The girls have both since confessed (since we had learned the truth anyway) but still, my cat is missing and probably dead.

I could press charges, but would then have to fear retribution towards my house or my other cat, who is miserable being locked up inside.

If only one of the adults involved had made the effort to walk across the street, my cat would still have a home.

What a great world we live in.
