  During the filming of Manderlay the Danish director Lars von Trier arranged for the killing of a donkey on the Swedish set with the excuse that it was "necessary" and that the donkey was going to be slaughtered anyway. More details at

  Please ask the Swedish authorities why the donkey was going to be slaughered as we do not think the Swedes are donkey meat consumers and why the Swedish laws do not protect animals abused and murdered for "artistic" reasons. This is happening all too often in that country. Thank you.
