In light of a pit bull attack in LaRue County last week, People for the
Ethical Treatment of Animals plans to use Hodgenville to start a new
national advertising campaign against chaining dogs.
PETA plans to cover a billboard in the city with the picture of chained
dog and the tagline "To keep your family safe, chain your door, not your
dog." The location has not been decided, but PETA cruelty case worker Dan
Paden said the agency hopes to have the advertisement up by the end of the
week.
Last Monday, 4-year-old Emily Paige Stinnett was attacked by her family
dog, an 80-pound pit bull, while playing on a swing set. The dog pulled
the stake to which it was chained from the ground and attacked the girl,
tearing away her scalp.
