A/w local OKC weekend hunting news:

Okla. game wardens will now have the discretion to issue permits to landowners
for nighttime hog hunting a/w a bill awaiting the Gov.'s signature. House
Bill 1860 would allow a landowner or lessee holding the proper permit to hunt
feral pigs at night "to protect crops from damage" by the animals.
The Okla. House accepted Senate amendments to the measure and approved
it 97 to 0. This proposed law is only a minor change from the current
version.
Presently, free "depredation permits" for nighttime hog hunting must be
approved by the Okla. Dept. of Wildlife Conservation's law enforcement
headquarters located in Okla. City.
This new law gives game wardens in the field the authority to issue the
permits "to legally hunt feral hogs to control nuisance or damage."
The Asst. chief of law enforcement for the Dept. states "This won't
be any different as far as hunting hogs. It will now just be a little easier
to get a permit."
The bill was originally written to allow unrestricted hog hunting at night
with no permits required. However, game wardens objected and
the bill was revised.

An instructional shooting for women is scheduled Saturday at an
Enid gun range. This event is sponsored by the National Rifle Ass.'s
Women on Target program. The cost is $10 per person and firearms
and ammo will be provided. Lunch is also served.
This clinic will feature training in the safe handling of handguns,
rifles and shotguns.

The Okla. Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge is now accepting
reservations for "Wildflower Walks." Reservations will be accepted on
a first-come, first-serve basis. The tours will be held this May.

                                                                For the
Animals,
