THE prospect of Federal Court action against Ralph Hanhnheuser and Animal
Liberation South Australia over the alleged contamination of feed at the
Portland feedlots last November has been welcomed by the man at the centre
of the case.
Rural Export and Trading (WA) and Samex Australian Meat Company is seeking
$500,000 in compensation for losses from the incident under the Trade
Practices Act.
Mr Hahnheuser said his legal team would contest the matter and that he saw
it as an opportunity to focus further scrutiny on the live export industry.
He said cases in South Australia resulting from activists entering battery
hen farms had led to years of court action that had kept media attention
on practices his group opposed.
