Bush, Atkins have more in common than they should

All one has to do is look at the popularity of the Atkins diet to know that
Americans will re-elect George Bush. Both Bush and Atkins have so much in
common.
Scientific studies like the Framingham Heart Study have shown that diets high
in meat and saturated fat increase risks for problems such as heart disease,
colon cancer, prostate cancer, diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, obesity
and a shortened lifespan. Yet people flock to the Atkins diet because it tells
them they can safely eat a lot of high-fat foods, which is what they want to
hear.
The Bush administration keeps increasing spending while cutting taxes. This
policy will make our economy sickly and bring the country to a slow death. But,
like Atkins, the message plays well to people who hear only what they want to
hear. Why would Americans elect a "tax and spend Democrat" when they can
instead choose a "not tax and spend even more" Republican?
To learn more about the Atkins diet, visit www.AtkinsDietAlert.org. To learn
more about what's wrong with the Bush economic plan, any accounting book will
do. The debits are supposed to equal the credits.
