Man suspected of animal cruelty

WESTMINSTER - Police have arrested a man for allegedly attacking a dog, News 4 reported this morning. 

A police officer said he saw a truck driver smash an object to the ground, then repeatedly kick it before trying to force it into a tool box. The officer said he realized then that it was a small dog. 

  
The officer arrested William D. Essex. 

The dog, a small beagle named Vinnie, is at Wheat Ridge Animal Hospital.
