Animal Liberation says it will stage more protests in Portland, in Victoria's
south-west, to try to shut down the live export industry.
Protesters were unable to stop sheep being loaded onto a ship for export to
the Middle East today.
Around 20 protestors were in Portland for the second day running.
Early this morning, two protestors chained themselves to a tugboat in a bid
to stop the ship Al Messilah from entering the port.
They were cut free by police and are likely to be charged with trespass.
Another two protestors dived into the water to slow the ship's progress but
the ship docked safely.
The protestors called off their efforts this afternoon but Animal Liberation
spokesman Mark Pearson says the protests have achieved their goal.

"The day may come when the rest of the animal creation may acquire those
rights which never could have been withholden from them but by the hand of
tyranny. The question is not can they REASON, nor can they TALK, but can they
SUFFER?"
Jeremy Bentham 1748 - 1832
