Seals? Tally-ho!

Kitchener, Ont. -- In response to the heartfelt plea of Hazel Kite of St.
Albans, England, for an end to the cruelty of the Canadian seal hunt (letter

-- April 19), I'm in complete agreement. We should make it much less cruel
-- perhaps we could have the upper classes hunt the seals across the ice in
pretty red jackets, riding horses, and have the seals torn to pieces by
dogs?

Oakville, Ont. -- For Hazel Kite to state that Canadians believe seal
hunting is acceptable is an incredible generalization. I am a Canadian, a
vegan, and an animal activist. I certainly do not condone the savage act of
seal hunting.

My family and friends and all those I have encountered are also firmly
opposed.

There is no need to let all Canadians know how disgusted the British are, we

feel the same way.

Sarnia, Ont. -- Its Hazel Kite's right to "not boost the Canadian economy"
in protest against our seal hunt. However, she should realize that our
country is not the only one taking part in "unacceptable behaviour." I
haven't eaten a steak and kidney pie since Britain invaded Iraq.
