TAMPA - A grass-roots group is increasingly at odds with a city ordinance
prohibiting people from feeding the homeless in downtown public parks,
calling it at best confusing and at worst unconstitutional.
Members of Food Not Bombs and their supporters are so upset by the law,
they say they're willing to go to jail to help change it.
...
At Monday's protest, Sarah Skowronski, 20, passed around a petition to
change the requirements.
Food Not Bombs offers hungry people picnic-style servings of homemade
vegetarian meals.
``We sit down and talk to them,'' says Skowronski, a University of South
Florida junior studying social work. ``We feel dialogue is the first step
to come up with a solution.''
