TEXAS PRODUCERS TO WELCOME HOME U.S. SOLDIERS
Cow-Calf Weekly, Lisa Williams, April 16, 2004
Task Force Ironhorse, the outfit that captured Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein
in December, returns to Fort Hood, TX, next week after a year of service in
Iraq. Texas beef producers will be there to welcome them home.
Texas beef producers and the checkoff have been asked to be part of official
welcome-home festivities April 22 at Fort Hood. The Texas Beef Council
(TBC), in conjunction with H.E.B. Grocery Co. and Texas cowboy caterers,
will serve up a beef barbecue dinner. H.E.B. is donating 7,500 lbs. of
pre-cooked chopped barbecue beef, enough to feed 30,000 individuals. Other
companies also will provide food.
The meals will be prepared by Texas chuck wagon caterers on the Fort Hood
grounds, and served by Texas beef producers including current and former
TBIC officers and board directors.
