AR-News: (US NY) Devilishly delicate angelfish

They are the aristocrats of the aquarium, mesmerizing hobbyists with their 
showy fins, the aquatic equivalent of a tiara and scepter.

"The angelfish's appeal has to do with its spectacular finnage," says Steve 
Rybicki of Angels Plus in Olean, N.Y., who has been breeding these South 
American charmers for three decades. "And angelfish are typically very slow moving 
and graceful, which people respond to. They're very calming fish."

They're also very intelligent ones, he adds, noting that cichlids like the 
angelfish "are on the higher end of the intelligence scale. They're not like a 
guppy - they recognize the people who feed them, and they'll rush to the front 
of the tank when they see you approaching with food."
