City agency helps corral exotic critters

So a guy walks into a Staten Island police station with a 3-foot-long caiman 
under his arm that he says he found on the street. 
Sounds like the start of a good joke — except that it happened for real a few 
weeks ago. 
Michael Pastore has the caiman, a black-backed member of the 
alligator-crocodile family, swimming in a caged-in tub in the Center for Animal Care and 
Control's Manhattan office to prove it. 
"The guy said it was a stray he found on the street," said Pastore, director 
of the agency's field operations. "He also gave the desk sergeant a fake name 
and address, so we kind of doubt his story."
