Animals in distress in this twin capital of Punjab and Haryana now have
access to 24-hour healthcare facilities.

A new hospital and rehabilitation centre of the Society for Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) was inaugurated here Friday.

SPCA president Jasbir Ralhan said this was the only hospital in the region
that provided indoor treatment to animals in distress.

Animals would be provided complete treatment, shelter and care till they
fully recovered, he said.

Philanthropists, animal welfare boards, the ministry of environment and
forests and the Chandigarh administration assisted in constructing the
three-storeyed building which houses the hospital.
