We thought our international supporters would be interested in seeing this message, which we've sent to our UK supporters.
Below is an article from the April 7th Coventry Evening Telegraph, followed by the text of a leaflet we've been circulating re the campaign against the reintroduction of greyhound racing to Coventry Stadium.
In fact, the committee only approved the track betting licence on the casting vote of the chairman, after the voting went two for, two against and two abstentions - and the chairman only voted as he did because he feared that legal action would be taken against the council by the stadium proprietors, if the licence were refused.
The Coventry leafletting will still definitely take place this Saturday. Please note the change of venue for the main event, which was originally billed as being in Broadgate.
Local residents are trying to get some sort of an injunction to stop greyhound racing going ahead on April 14th. For this reason, we will not know whether the demo(s) will be taking place until much nearer the time, but we will let you know any news as soon as we receive it.

Dog racing protestors vow to fight on
Apr 7 2004
By Annette Morgan
Protestors have vowed to take their battle against plans for greyhound racing at Coventry Stadium to court after the final green light was given to the scheme.
Rugby borough council's licensing committee approved a track betting licence for the Rugby Road stadium in Brandon following a five-hour meeting on Monday, in court if necessary.
The meeting was held up by submissions from solicitors representing the stadium and from residents who said the stadium did not have permission to reintroduce racing at the track.
Councillors heard from protesters living near the site who feared their lives would be made hell by extra noise, light pollution, traffic congestion and litter as soon as the racing starts on April 14.
Brandon parish councillor Joy Stanton, said the fight would not end.
She said: "This is not the beginning of the end but the end of the beginning. We are not going to let this go.
"If you think we are too small to make a difference try sleeping with a mosquito."
She said residents would challenge the decision.
Rugby Road resident John Sidey, who has lived in the area for 30 years, said he was disappointed by the decision.
He said: "We are concerned as to what will happen when the racing starts.
"So far the owners seem to have shown no consideration for the residents. It seems betting is the main thing."
Brandon stadium commercial development manager Jeremy Heaver said he still wished to work with protesters.
He said: "I will go out and meet with anyone to discuss concerns.
"We are very pleased the final hurdle has been overcome."
He said 150 new staff would now be taken on.
Animal rights campaigners are planning protests during the first week of racing.
Say "No" to dog racing at Coventry Stadium!
Leafletting/Demo - please try to take part
Leafletting, Coventry, Saturday April 10th
Coventry Against Greyhound Exploitation (CAGE) are holding a major leafletting event in Coventry city centre on Saturday April 10th . Please try to take part, to help educate the people of Coventry not to support greyhound racing.
The main event will be taking place from 10am to 5pm in the Bull Yard in the precinct of Coventry city centre and will include stalls, an exhibition, kids’ doggy face mask workshop etc. There will also be leafletting in Broadgate (where the Lady Godiva statue is)
And if you have rescued greyhounds, do bring them along, if they are not of a nervous disposition.
Demo, Brandon, Wednesday April 14th
The proprietors of Coventry Stadium have announced that greyhound racing will start at Brandon on the 14th of April.
In view of this, CAGE have organised a demo outside the stadium, starting at 6pm on Wednesday, April 14th and ending at about 7.30pm.
Please do your best to attend, bringing anti greyhound racing banners and placards, if you can.
But please, don’t bring dogs. The stadium is at the side of a main road and there will be a lot of traffic and noise.
The stadium is situated between the villages of Binley Woods and Brandon, a few miles east of Coventry on the A428 Rugby Road.
(CAGE are also hoping to hold demos at the stadium on April 16th, 17th and 18th. Contact them on 07771 953465 if you are interested in taking part in any of these)
Important note
Because of a legal challenge by local residents, there is a chance that greyhound racing at the stadium will be postponed and, if this happens, the demo will not take place.
Therefore, if you intend to take part in the demo, please contact Greyhound Action (details below), so we can keep you informed of what is going on.
