AR-News: (CA) Poultry shipments from B.C. set to resume

Richard says it's expected the vast majority of flocks will prove to be 
infection-free, and already there is a large quantity of meat in storage. 
The agency is holding a news conference in Abbotsford this afternoon. 
Meanwhile, an animal-rights group is calling the method of killing the 
millions of birds due for slaughter needlessly cruel.
The Canadian Coalition for Farm Animals says the use of carbon dioxide in the 
slaughter is cruel, claiming the birds don't die a quick death. 
The coalition says Canada's animal welfare laws are supposed to protect 
animals from inhumane forms of slaughter. 
A spokesman says millions of chickens, turkeys and other poultry are at risk 
of dying a slow, suffocating death.
