AR-News: (UK) WILDLIFE: Lake is ravaged by killer toxins

IT COULD be a scene from a sci-fi horror film, as toxins spread through the 
water killing everything in their path.



Up to 2,000 fish and toads can be seen floating on the surface, tangled among 
the rubbish floating in the murky water.

But these are not pictures from a film, they are taken from a natural beauty 
spot, in Werrington, Peterborough.

It is believed that heavy rain on Wednesday night washed some dumped waste 
into the lake in Cuckoo's Hollow, off Skaters Way, turning the water poisonous.

Cllr John Fox was alerted to the problem when a worried resident came to see 
him, after spotting the dead fish and amphibians.

He made his way down to the site and quickly the saw devastation for himself.
He said: "I went down and had a look and saw all the wildlife in the pond 
were being killed.
