AR-News: (AU) Zoo boss denies stealing animals

A MANAGER at millionaire Warren Anderson's former private zoo has been 
accused of stealing animals and pocketing proceeds from their sale.

Former Tipperary Wildlife Sanctuary manager Kevin Freeman today denied 
stealing the beasts, but admitted selling some animals in 2003 and putting the money 
into his bank account. 
"I wasn't stealing animals, but the money was going into my account," Mr 
Freeman told Darwin Magistrates Court under cross-examination today. 
The denial came during a rhinoceros neglect trial against Mr Anderson's 
company Owston Nominees No 2 Pty Ltd. 
Owston has pleaded not guilty to two charges of failing to adequately feed 
two southern white rhinoceroses over two days in October 2003.
