Officials are considering a proposal that would require township permits for
new horse farms, said Township Administrator Kenneth Bleiler. Lynn is home to
about a dozen horse farms, but more people are looking to bring them to the
area, he said.

leiler said the Lynn supervisors got interested about a year ago when they
realized that some horse farm owners had not applied for the special exception
they needed. Farmers assumed that since the land they occupy is zoned
agricultural, they didn't need a permit.

The proposed ordinance would require horse farms to have a permit even though
they are in an agricultural zone.
