Panaji, Apr. 5 :

Dog lovers in Goa are making life happy for their canine friends. Most of the
Goan homes have pets and people find it difficult to go on vacation and leave
their dogs behind.

The local chapter of Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has
come up with a dog home to help the dog owners. "In Goa most of the houses
have pets, specially dogs, so when they go on vacation they find it difficult to
keep their dogs. Dogs
cannot adjust everywhere, they take time. They were facing lot of
difficulties, so we started this home to provide shelter to these pets. We keep them here
and make them feel at home, even when their owners are away," said T.T.
Radaod, Director of Goa's SPCA.

Caretakers said even ferocious dogs become tame after a few days at the
shelter.
"If it is ferocious then we take our time. Then it is difficult to handle
them. After four-five days it comes to us. But if it calms, then we get close to
them very soon," Banudas, a caretaker, said. The shelter takes care of the
dogs and their special needs, including medical facilities.(ANI)
