Fat dogs, take note: Crusty the Wonderdog (and supermodel) displays her lean
physique.

Fido is getting fatter.
As the human population feeds its collective face our pets are only to happy
to join in. When was the last time you saw a dog turn up its nose at food?

It's no accident that dogs and cats come to resemble their owners in weight
as well as style, according to Dr Geoff Wilson. Obesity runs in the family.
Behind an overweight pet is often an owner battling their own bulge. Many a chop
thrower lives in a carefully constructed world of denial and when calling a
dog fat can be a roundabout insult to the owner, obesity in pets becomes a
delicate issue.

But as a vet, Dr Geoff Wilson must go where others fear to tread. "An
overweight pet is not a happy pet," according to Dr Geoff. Heart disease, joint
disease, diabetes and decreased life span are all consequences of too much Pal and
not enough exercise.
