Two charges of animal cruelty levelled at Warren Anderson's company, Owston
Nominees, have been dismissed.
The company now faces only one charge of animal cruelty for its alleged
failure to exercise the reasonable care of exotic animals at Tipperary Station,
south of Darwin last October.
It is alleged feed supplies for a collection of more than 2,000 exotic
animals, including zebras, rhinoceros and ostriches, ran out.
In court today, prosecutor Elizabeth Fullerton alleged the entire animal
collection had been deprived of adequate feed over a 48 hour period.
Mr Anderson's lawyer Philip Dunn QC questioned the nature of the remaining
charge and whether a separate charge should exist for every one of the 2,200
animals.
The hearing continues.
