AR-News: (Thailand) CHICKEN INDUSTRY: Exporters making big investments

After bird flu, focus shifts from fresh to cooked products 
Over the past two years, the country's major chicken exporters have invested 
more than Bt25 billion to establish their own hi-tech integrated manufacturing 
plants and farms, not only to double capacity but also to meet food-safety 
requirements. 
Major exporters include the country's top three - Saha Farm Group, Charoen 
Pokphand Foods Plc (CPF) and Betagro Group - which controlled about 50-60 per 
cent of total export volume of 550,000 tonnes last year. It is expected the 
country's total exports will reach 600,000 to 700,000 tonnes annually within a few 
years.
