BALLARAT animal rescuers are calling for a ban on duck hunting following
their claim that State Government restrictions on the sport are un-enforceable.

Members of the Coalition Against Duck Shooting have expressed outrage after
allegedly witnessing more than 80 illegal duck killings at Johnsons Swamp, near
Kerang.

Ballarat Organisation for Animal Rights secretary Lynn Trakell said about 80
hunters gathered at the site last week for the opening of duck shooting season.

She accused shooters of flouting bag limits and restrictions, and called for
a ban on the practice.

She also criticised the Department of Sustainability and Environment for a
lack of regulating officers.
