AR-News: (US CA) Animal-rights activists picket animal shelter

A handful of animal-rights activists picketed the Indio Animal Shelter Friday 
to protest recent allegations of abuse and neglect at the aged facility. 

"These are dark allegations," local businesswoman Tanya Petrovna said of 
reports that staffers there beat animals as they were dying and denied other 
animals needed medical attention. 

"Are they (the allegations) fair? They at least need to be looked into," 
Petrovna said.
