Stop Cockfighting Cruelty in Louisiana!
 
Cockfighting is an inhumane and barbaric practice, in
which roosters are bred for viciousness, drugged to
heighten aggression, fitted with razor-sharp knives
and gaffs on their legs, and placed in a pit to hack
each other to death for the amusement and illegal
gambling of spectators. Even the “winners” often die
from their injuries, which can include punctured
lungs, broken bones, and pierced eyes. Cockfights are
common venues for illegal gambling, drugs, guns, and
even homicides. However, Louisiana is one of only two
states where cockfighting remains legal, and it is
time to outlaw this cruel practice.

YOU ARE ABLE TO HELP
The Louisiana state legislature is now considering
H.B. 681, sponsored by state Rep. Karen Carter, which
would ban cockfighting. H.B. 681 prohibits promoting
or attending a cockfight, possessing cockfighting
weapons, and breeding or transporting birds for
fighting. Please contact your state representative and
senator and ask them to vote YES on H.B. 681. To find
