Campaigners against the revival of greyhound racing at Brandon are set to
stage a protest over several days if Coventry Stadium bosses win a betting
licence.
Members of Rugby Borough Council's licensing committee are set to grant a
track betting licence for the Rugby Road stadium at a special meeting on Monday,
despite receiving more than 40 letters of objection from residents.
Officers said the application should not be refused because there was no
evidence to suggest racing at the site would damage local amenities or public
health, or cause traffic safety problems.
Now members of protest group Cage - Coventry Against Greyhound Exploitation -
have vowed to stage peaceful protests outside the stadium every night of its
opening week, April 10-17.
