AR-News: (AU) NT bans cosmetic tail docking

A ban on cosmetic tail docking of dogs has been passed by the Northern 
Territory Parliament.
But the amendments to the Animal Welfare Act will still allow tail amputation 
for therapeutic reasons.
The changes are part of national efforts to ban the practice but some groups, 
including the Australian Veterinary Association, say the amendments do not go 
far enough. 
Vets will now be the only people who can amputate dogs tails and only when a 
case can be made on therapeutic or medical grounds.
