Nine-hour limit 'doesn't go far enough,' says Green MEP
THE European Parliament has today rejected calls from Green Party MEP
Caroline Lucas to ban live animal exports - instead setting a maximum journey time
for animal being transported for slaughter.
"MEPs have today missed an historic opportunity to make a real difference to
animal welfare." said South-East England MEP Caroline Lucas, who had proposed
the ban as part of a package of animal welfare measures discussed today.
"The changes only go from 'worse' to 'bad' - and will not apply to the
majority of exports from the UK anyway."
