This week's "Animal Voices" radio show is packed! We'll kick it all off with a news report, followed by an interview with Earthroots' dedicated wilderness campaigner, Melissa Tkachyk. Melissa will give us an update about the Wolves Ontario! initiative, and let us know what is still left to be done to help Ontario wolves. Then we'll wake up Chad Miller, co-founder of the Portland-based vegan grocery store "Food Fight!," to chat about the store that specializes in "vegan jerky and pop." "We're not really a health foodstore," states Chad. Chad's going to get up far too early on his day off to make us drool.

At the end of the hour, we'll speak with a couple of blueberry farmers,
who you may have recently read about in the Globe and Mail. Chris Croner
(former road manager for Jimi Hendrix!) and Jennifer Cichanovich share a
beautiful organic blueberry farm in Matsqui BC, near Abbotsford.
Unfortunately, the chickens Chris and Jennifer rehabilitate (taken in
after the "layers" are "spent" in large factory farms) and turn loose in
the blueberry patches are soon to be slaughtered by the Canadian Food
Inspection Agency (CFIA). The CFIA is concerned that the avian
influenza, discovered in five chicken farms near Abbotsford, may continue to spread. Yet, Chris and Jennifer don't operate a chicken farm, and all their 40 chickens' blood tests came back "healthy".
