AR-News: (US-tx)Rooster fighting barn raided

An anonymous tip led deputies with the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office
and the Santa Fe police to bust a large rooster fighting event Sunday
afternoon.

Once they arrived on the scene in the 15600 block of Fir in Algoa officers
found close to 100 people — some, children as young as three — a large
number of rooster pens, cock fighting paraphernalia as well as more than
100 chickens.

“I’ve never seen anything like this before,” said Galveston County Sheriff
Sgt. Randle Burrows. “There are chickens everywhere, in coops or tied up.
There’s a lot of dead or dying ones here too.

“There’s blood and feathers everywhere. It’s not a scene you usually come
across.”
