CORINTH - Chris Weathersbee says his Buddhist philosophy keeps him from
slaughtering any of his roughly 300 goats and he lacks the money to give
them "optimal" care.

Now he's in debt $15,000 to his neighbors for hay, and the Vermont State
Police and Central Vermont Humane Society are investigating and may bring
animal cruelty or neglect charges.

Weathersbee's in deep manure - literally. Several of the floors in his
house are covered by a mix of goat droppings and hay, packed down by the
70 or so goats Weathersbee allows to live in the house with him.
