AR-News: (US-fl)Sanctuary lawyer denies retaliation claims

More horror stories have surfaced about the alleged mistreatment of
animals and mismanagement at the Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary, as its
lawyer chalks the claims up to "internal issues."

"I'm not taking my rescued birds and animals up there anymore," former
volunteer Michael Laffargue said. "Not the way it's run now."

Twenty-four people who signed a letter to sanctuary president and
executive director Mona Schonbrunn dated Jan. 27 outlining the incidents
of mismanagement and mistreatment of animals were fired or forced to
resign. They have filed a whistle-blower lawsuit.
